Let's start at the very beginning...

...because that's a very good place to start (there's a song to be made
from that !).

I was introduced to Taking in Global by Brent, Michelle and Tam
who I met almost a week ago now at a discussion group session at the
Foundation of Young Australians in Melbourne. I found out about the
session from the Yahoo YouthGAS mailing list. The session basically
consisted of us sitting around talking about our involvement in various
groups plus our interpretations of various words like youth participation,
leadership, success, excellence etc..etc..etc..

At first I felt a little uncomfortable. Everybody there seemed to know
everybody else (or so it seemed anyway) whilst little ol' me was sitting there
twiddling my thumbs. I also felt quite small and insignificant too, in that
everybody else seemed to be involved in this gigantic organisations that
seem to be quite large and do things on a global scale, whilst what I worked
on was much smaller and on a very local scale.

I did feel a little more at ease towards the end of the session - I was a really
interesting session in that it got me thinking about what it is that we do.
I think deep down we know why we do what we do, however we're so busy
doing what we do that we don't often think about why it is that we do what we do
(confused?? Don't worry..so am I !) I'm hoping to get a copy of the questions they
asked us so I can have a bit more a deeper think about them and hopefully arrive
at an answer that's a little more in depth and reflective.

I think I've done it

OK - Having read through everyone elses updates and profiles
and stuff I thought I better get my act together and get one
of my own happening. It's taken me a week to figure out how
to do this, but considering I've been flat out with Uni
assignments and exams, I guess that's not too bad.

Promise I will write more in the weeks to come.
